Russian ambassador arrives at Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry after drones shot down over Romania

Russia’s ambassador to Romania, Vladimir Lipaev, arrived at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) on Monday for talks with Romanian diplomats after being summoned over repeated violations of the country’s airspace by the Russian Federation in recent days.

The ambassador was called to the ministry following repeated incursions into Romania’s airspace by Russia.

„It is unacceptable and intolerable for the Russian Federation to continue violating Romania’s airspace, which is also NATO and European Union airspace. Such actions are unacceptable and we treat them with the utmost seriousness, together with our allies. Following these repeated violations, the ambassador of the Russian Federation has been summoned to Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Oana Toiu said on X on Sunday.

Three drones that had illegally entered Romanian airspace were shot down by Romanian pilots at the end of last week.
