Romania’s football team qualifies for elite round of European Under-19 Championship

Romania’s national team qualified for the elite round of the 2026 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, after defeating Iceland 3-0 (2-0) on Tuesday in Chiajna, in Group 7 of the qualifiers.

In the other match of the group, Andorra defeated Finland 1-0 in Buftea.

Romania took first place in the group, with 7 points, followed by Finland – 4 points, Iceland – 3 points, Andorra – 3 points. The first two ranked teams qualified for the elite round, which will take place in the spring of 2026.

The 2026 UEFA European Under-19 Championship will be organized, between June 28 and July 11, in Wales, in the cities of Wrexham, Bangor and Colwyn Bay. In addition to the host team, the seven group winners from the elite round will also qualify for this tournament.
