State institutions will establish the circumstances surrounding the serious incident involving the LPG tanker Gas Lisbon, President Nicusor Dan said on Tuesday.
In a Facebook post, the head of state said that during the night from Monday to Tuesday, the Liberia-flagged LPG tanker Gas Lisbon was struck outside Romania’s territorial waters, approximately 20 nautical miles off the Romanian coast, agerpres reports.
Shortly after the incident, two vessels operated by the Romanian Agency for Saving Human Life at Sea (ARSVOM) arrived at the scene and evacuated the entire crew, including the three injured crew members, all of whom were brought safely ashore, the president said.
A tugboat dispatched to the area is also ensuring that the vessel does not drift and pose any further risk to the safety of navigation.
